Hocking County Sheriff Lanny E. North reports that on November 9, 2011 the Sheriff’s Office responded to a theft in progress that evolved into a robbery. A Bowland Road resident discovered a vehicle parked in his driveway and one of his truck tires he had stored, next to the vehicle at the bottom of his driveway. About the same time, the victim saw a male rolling another truck tire down the hill toward the same vehicle. The victim confronted the suspect and realized he knew him from school. He was identified as a 35 year old man of Logan. The victim asked his girlfriend to call the Sheriff’s Office and attempted to keep the suspect at the scene until deputies arrived.
In an effort to escape, the suspect assaulted the victim which resulted in the charge becoming robbery.
Robbery is charged when someone uses force in committing a theft offense. Detectives were called to the scene to process evidence while deputies attempted to locate the suspect. The man could not be located until the morning of Nov 10th after an arrest warrant was issued for his arrest. The suspect is charged with robbery, B&E and theft. He was arraigned in Hocking County Municipal Court with bond set at $20,000 cash and currently being held in the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail.
