David Myers escaped from Mansfield Correctional Institution Wednesday night.

CAPTURED IN ASHLAND COUNTY





MANSFIELD, Ohio -- Officials say 47-year-old James David Myers escaped from Mansfield Correctional Institution Wednesday night.

Prison officials say he was not accounted for during the 9 p.m. head count, contrary to earlier reports.

Myers, from Mogadore in Summit County, is a 5-foot-11, 172-pound white male with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Wayne County Deputies Arrest Pair Who Were Using Counterfeit Money

On Friday June 28th Deputies arrested and man and a woman after learning they were involved in passing several hundred dollars of counterfeit money to Amish roadside vendors.

After receiving license plate information from one of the victims, deputies spotted the suspect vehicle at a Mt. Eaton gas station and quickly took both suspects into custody. Upon making the arrest deputy’s recovered additional counterfeit money as well as various produce items that had been purchased.

The suspects told the deputies that they were using the large counterfeit bills to make small purchases and would receive change as well as the product in return.

Both suspects are facing a variety of charges in this case at both the local and federal level. Additional subjects may be charged as the investigation continues.
In this case the counterfeit money consisted of one dollar bills that had been altered to appear as 100s and 50s.

Individuals who feel that they have been victims of this pair are urged to contact the Wayne County Sheriff’s office or their local law enforcement agency.

Hocking County Deputies Arrest Man for Possession of Drugs



(Logan, OH) – Hocking County Sheriff Lanny E. North reports that on Monday July 1, 2013 members of the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office Sheriff’s Interdiction Unit (SIU) stopped a vehicle on Laurel Run Road for a traffic violation.

After making the stop, deputies identified the driver as a 36 year old male, of Coshocton, Ohio. Deputies had the man exit his vehicle and while patting him down for weapons Deputies asked the man if he possessed anything illegal. The man stated he had a bag of methamphetamine which was later identified as what is to be believed “ice”, a street term for methamphetamine. The bag contained .3 grams of the substance.

HCSO K9 Emma performed a sniff of the vehicle and indicated that an odor of illegal narcotics were in the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle produced additional drug paraphernalia and small plastic baggies.

Evidence seized during the arrest will be submitted to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification Crime lab for scientific testing.
The man was arrested and charged with Possession of Drugs (F5) and Permitting Drug Abuse (F5) and transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail to await arraignment.

Another male occupant in the vehicle was also arrested on outstanding warrants from Fairfield County and transferred to their facility for incarceration.

Green County Deputies Investigate Man With A Gun And Find Report To Be False.

On June 27, 2013 the Greene County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a man with a gun near the Glen Helen Education Center inside the Nature Reserve. A staff member there reported interacting with the man. The Sheriff’s Office responded with local law enforcement partners, provided security and conducted extensive searches of the area.

Due to the large community concern and the offices desire to do what it could to investigate the matter before the holiday weekend, a case was opened and assigned to the Sheriff’s Office Detectives. The matter was thoroughly investigated and found to be unsubstantiated.
The reporting person was confronted with the investigative analysis in a follow up interview and what was gathered by responding deputies at the time of the reported event. The staff member, on July 3, 2013, admitted to investigators that the claim was false. No such person existed as it was reported. Management at Glen Helen and Antioch College were advised of the updates.

The matter with all facts gathered will be reviewed with the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office at a later date.
