Wayne County Deputies Arrest Pair Who Were Using Counterfeit Money

On Friday June 28th Deputies arrested and man and a woman after learning they were involved in passing several hundred dollars of counterfeit money to Amish roadside vendors.

After receiving license plate information from one of the victims, deputies spotted the suspect vehicle at a Mt. Eaton gas station and quickly took both suspects into custody. Upon making the arrest deputy’s recovered additional counterfeit money as well as various produce items that had been purchased.

The suspects told the deputies that they were using the large counterfeit bills to make small purchases and would receive change as well as the product in return.

Both suspects are facing a variety of charges in this case at both the local and federal level. Additional subjects may be charged as the investigation continues.
In this case the counterfeit money consisted of one dollar bills that had been altered to appear as 100s and 50s.
