On Friday, August 19, 2011 at 2344 hrs., the Lake County Sheriff’s responded to 13254 Girdled Rd., Leroy Twp., Ohio, in reference to a possible burglary in progress. The complainant revealed he could observe a vehicle in the driveway of this vacant address and could also hear noises consistent with someone trying to break down a door.
Deputies Moon, Saber and Dybzinski responded to the location and immediately observed a vehicle attempting to back down the driveway. As officers pulled into the drive behind the vehicle and activated the overhead lights and siren the vehicle pulled forward and began trying to elude the officers by fleeing through the back yard.
The vehicle, a 2001 4dr. Saturn, traveled several hundred feet into the back yard until it became disabled in the muddy wooded area of the property. Deputies pursued behind the vehicle into the back yard and apprehend the two male suspects. Both males live at the same address in Madison Twp. and are 24 and 19 years old respectively.
Both males were arrested and booked into the Lake County Detention Center on Charges of Burglary, Criminal Tools and Fleeing and Eluding on the 24 year old driver.
