Delaware County Deputies arrest three women after heroin and morphine is found in vehicle.
On Saturday, September 24, 2011 a deputy with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop. The driver was pulled over for failing to signal when changing lanes and aggressive driving. The female driver and her two female passengers were acting extremely nervous; the driver was unable to provide the deputy with a driver’s license or proof of insurance. The driver’s nervous behavior prompted an assisting deputy to place a call to the on-duty Drug Task Force detective who was familiar with the driver of the vehicle, and had reason to believe she was in possession of narcotics.
The driver gave deputies consent to search her vehicle. During the course of the search, deputies located several syringes, 30 mg pills of Morphine and 27 units of heroin wrapped in foil. The three women were placed under arrest and charged with possession of drug instruments; the driver faces additional drug possession charges and was issued a citation for operating a vehicle without a valid license.
