On Oct. 20 at approx. 3:20 a.m, a Hocking County Sheriff’s deputy on patrol in Laurelville was approached by a citizen advising a female was being assaulted on Pike Street in the Village. Locating the residence, a female was heard screaming for help and a male individual was on top of her choking her.
According to Sheriff Lanny North, the male was identified as a 40 year old man of Laurelville, and has resided with the victim for approx. 7 years. The victim was treated and released at the scene by Hocking County EMS for injuries she received from the attack.
The man was arrested and was charged with Resisting Arrest, Assault and Felony Domestic Violence since he has a prior conviction for Domestic Violence. He was transported to the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail in Nelsonville to await his initial appearance before Hocking County Municipal Court Judge Pauline O’Neill.
