After K-9 “Brit” alerted to the vehicle, a preliminary search was conducted for narcotics. Further investigation by deputies and an inventory of the vehicle after it was towed by deputies revealed numerous items in the trunk which were believed to have been recently stolen. Some of the property was wrapped Christmas gifts that had been torn open.
While conducting this investigation, deputies were called to a residence in the 9100 block of State Route 725, east of Gratis on a residential burglary. Evidence located in the vehicle linked the suspects to this burglary.
Deputies eventually arrested a 27 year old man of Middletown , charging him with Burglary, Receiving Stolen Property, Theft and Falsification. The man was also wanted out on an outstanding warrant out of Montgomery County for Resisting Arrest and Possession of Methamphetamine.
