Hocking County Deputies arrest pair for robbery.

On December 12, 2011 at approximately 3:55 P.M. the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a robbery at the South Perry General Store.
According to Hocking County Sheriff Lanny North, witnesses described the suspect as a white male, 5’04”-5’06” and approximately 130 lbs.  The suspect had a light growth red beard and was wearing a grey toboggan and a green hoody sweat shirt.

The suspect, upon entering the store, asked for an item as if to purchase it, then handed the cashier a note which indicated he was robbing the store and implied he had a weapon.  The suspect picked up the entire cash register and fled the store.  After leaving the store, witnesses told detectives the suspect entered a light colored Ford Taurus, fleeing south on SR 180 toward Laurelville.

After arriving at the scene, detectives processed the scene and interviewed witnesses.

With invaluable information provided by citizens in the area, detectives were able to obtain the license plate number of the vehicle and eventually who actually had possession of the vehicle.

Mid morning of Dec. 13, the cash register taken during the robbery was recovered several miles from the grocery.

Following through with their investigation, detectives obtained arrests warrants for two men one age 37 with a last know address of London Ohio and the second, age 40 with a last know address of Chillicothe.

With their possible location in Columbus, Hocking detectives contacted Columbus PD detectives, who apprehended the pair at approx. 2:45 p.m. today.

The two men are charged with Aggravated Robbery, Tampering with Evidence and Safecracking and will be transported to the Franklin County Jail to await a Rule 4 hearing prior to returning to Hocking County.

Excellent cooperation from the public, Columbus PD and extensive investigative work by Hocking detectives permitted the timely apprehension and arrest of the two individuals who had committed the robbery.
