Quick thinking Delaware County deputy arrest man for burglarizing three homes.

(DELAWARE COUNTY, OH) February 13, 2012 – One man is in the Delaware County Jail facing multiple charges after being found with stolen property and admitting to burglarizing three homes. Today, February 13, at approximately 11 a.m. deputies responded to a home security alarm at 1405 South Galena Road in Berkshire Township.

En route to the scene, a detective notified deputies via the radio of a recent burglary, in which the suspect was seen fleeing the scene in a white Honda Civic. Shortly after that information was aired, a deputy passed a vehicle matching the description. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was found to be in possession of stolen property, including a jewelry box containing multiple pieces of women’s jewelry. The 21-year-old suspect, admitted to forcibly entering the South Galena Road residence and another home last week. He also admitted to stealing the property this morning from a home on Chesire Road.

“It is because of the quick thinking of our detectives and deputies that this man is in jail today,” said Sheriff Walter L. Davis III. “One of our detectives remembered reviewing security video from an attempted burglary that occurred last week; he recalled the getaway vehicle and quickly aired the information to deputies near the scene. A deputy observed the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Without this information, it would have been possible for the suspect to drive past our deputies, getaway and be free to victimize other county residents.”

The suspect is being held in the Delaware County Jail on a charge of burglary and possessing criminal tools and two charges of attempted burglary.
