On July 21, 2011 the MARMET Drug Task Force, Marion County Sheriff’s Department and Marion Police Department kicked off the “Feel the Heat Drug Sweep”. This operation concluded a several month drug investigation involving several area drug dealers. This investigation was spearheaded by the MARMET/METRICH Drug Task Force and the Marion County Prosecuting Attorney Brent Yagers’ Office.
At approximately 11:00 am law enforcement began serving arrest warrants on over 20 persons charged with trafficking in illegal drugs. As of 5:00 pm approximately half of the 20 had been located and arrested.
During these arrests large amounts of Cocaine, Crack Cocaine, Marijuana and Prescription Pills were seized.
Also seized was a substantial amount of U.S. currency and several vehicles. Charges on these suspects range from felonies of the 1st degree to felonies of the 5th degree.
