Summit County Sheriff Drew Alexander reports that on July 16th, 2011, during routine patrols, a Summit County Sheriff’s Deputy made a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle on Portage Lakes Drive in Coventry Township . During the stop, the Deputy noticed Meth Lab components in the vehicle. It was determined that the driver had recently been at a local motel.
After further investigation, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and the Summit County Drug Unit conducted a search warrant at the motel. After entering the room, detectives found an active Red Phosphorus Meth Lab in the room. A 39 year old male from Barberton was present in the motel room.
Both men were arrested and charged with Criminal Tools, Illegal Manufacture of Drugs, and Illegal Assembly or Possession of Chemical For the Manufacture of Drugs. They were booked into the Summit County Jail. More details can be found here.
