Gallia County Deputies arrest two suspects for kidnapping

Three people are currently being lodged in the Gallia County jail following a reported kidnapping that occurred in the afternoon of Sunday, September 11, 2011.
According to statements, a 20 year old, Gallipolis man was chased from his bed and captured outside the backdoor of his Kanauga-area home by suspects two suspects a 21 year old female and a 28 year old male... both of Gallipolis Ferry, W.Va.
The two allegedly kicked in the front door of the victims home, captured him and forced him into a waiting vehicle, then drove him to their Mason County apartment.
Once back at their apartment, the suspects threatened the victim with bodily harm unless he was able to provide them with money that he owed them.

After the victim had arranged for his grandparents to bring the money, he was released to them at a parking lot on Route 2 south in Mason County.
Deputies were able to take both suspects into custody without incident. They are both charged with kidnapping and burglary. The victim was also taken into custody on pending warrants from Gallipolis Municipal Court for theft and driving under suspension.

The three will be arraigned in Municipal Court today and bond will be set by Judge Margaret Evans.
Detectives believe that the incident is drug-related and are continuing their investigation.
Gallia County Deputies have been in contact with and received assistance from the West Virginia State Police concerning the matter. The Gallia County Sheriff, Joe Browning states that the investigation is ongoing and his office has consulted with prosecutors to ensure that proper charges are filed.
