Fayette County Deputies arrest burglary suspects.

Two Columbus residents were arrested and charged Thursday afternoon in connection with a burglary at an occupied residence in northwest Fayette County, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Vernon Stanforth reported that his office received a call at 1:48 p.m. Thursday afternoon from a resident in the 7000 block of State Route #41 NW, reporting that subjects were breaking into her home. Sheriff Stanforth and deputies responded to the call while a sheriff’s dispatcher kept the resident on the telephone. “The dispatcher maintained telephone contact with the resident, reporting having heard forced entry being made into the home while on the phone with the resident”, according to the sheriff.
After making entry into the home, one of the suspects observed the resident inside the home and fled from the residence, departing northbound on State Route #41 NW with the second suspect. “The resident was able to provide a description of the suspects, their vehicle, and the direction that they were departing”, said Stanforth.
Sheriff’s deputies and troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol canvassed the area in several directions attempting to locate the suspect vehicle, described as a dark colored, older model Jeep station wagon.

The watchful eye of a citizen in the area of State Route #41 & Interstate 71 informed a sheriff’s deputy that a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle was observed entering Interstate 71 North just prior to contact with the deputy.

Sheriff Stanforth and Deputy Jeff Holbrook pursued after the vehicle, locating it on Interstate 71 North near State Route #56 in Madison County. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office was contacted and responded to assist. “Sheriff Stanforth and Deputy Holbrook stopped the suspect vehicle at the State Route #56 overpass on Interstate 71 North, identified both suspects and took them into custody without incident”, according to Chief Deputy Andy Bivens.
