Washington County deputies arrest man for being a fugitive from justice and possession of heroin.

Washington County Sheriff Larry Mincks announced this afternoon that a felon wanted for escaping home confinement in Parkersburg was arrested in Marietta. Authorities in Wood County, WV had been searching for the 27 year old man since he broke the regulations to his home confinement on 8 Feb 12. Prior to his release from prison, the man reportedly told an inmate he planned to conduct armed home invasions upon his release.

An investigation by Agents of the Major Crimes Task Force determined that the man and his girlfriend, age 20, of Highland Ridge Road, Marietta, were holed up at the residence of another woman, age 20, at 613 ½ Tenth Street, Marietta. Today Task Force Agents executed a search warrant at that residence and arrested the male suspect as he attempted to flush a small quantity of heroin down a toilet.

As a result of the search warrant, the man was arrested on felony charges of being a fugitive from justice and possession of heroin. In addition, the two women were arrested for felony charges of obstruction of justice for harboring the man while he was a fugitive. During the booking process, one of the women was found in possession of less than a gram of heroin in an undergarment. Consequently, she was charged with a felony count of possession of heroin.

All three remain incarcerated in the Washington County Jail and are scheduled to appear in Marietta Municipal Court Monday afternoon.
